Translator's Notes

There are a number of terms in this manga with which readers may be unfamiliar. The original Japanese terms have been preserved in some cases due to a lack of cultural equivalents. Please refer to this page if and when you find yourself having trouble understanding the text.

Japanese names are written in their original order, with the family name coming before the given name. In other words, it’s…
[Last name] [First name]

“...-san” is kept from the original Japanese text as a signifier of relationship between characters. “...-san” is appended to names in a variety of circumstances. You can think of it as showing standard formality.

“...-chan” is a less formal version of “...-san” and can show a difference in stature (the person of higher stature would use this for the person of lower stature) or a friendly relationship, to name only a couple uses. It often has a connotation of cuteness.

“Banzai” is a word that means different things in different contexts. In a typical celebratory context, we can interpret this word as “hurrah” or an equivalent exclamation. The speaker will often raise his/her arms in the air as he says it.

In-text translator's notes will be marked as “TN: [...].”

What did you say...?!

BR)
Turn the time machine into a weapon?!
Are you going to use it in World War III?!

BL)
Sh! Your're too loud, Professor Urashima.
You never know if a spy is around these days.

---Page 10---

[The state of the world is becoming more strained with every passing day.]
[While the eastern and western powers talk about disarmament, they compete over the number of bombs they have, and we have been placed in the middle.]

MR)
This is why your great invention is a ray of light for our small nation.

MC)
SFX (x2): Shake

ML 1)
SFX: Cough
We're not going mad.

ML 2)
This decision was made by our nation's topmost organization, The Council of Elders.

BR 1)
The head elder also wishes for this.
He said that we must absolutely acquire your help.
*Text on the board follows...*

*Body text to follow...*
Dear Noboru,

You, do it. I leave it to you.

Regards,
Kazamidori Yasu

BR 2)
Of course, the government won't be stingy with its cooperation. (Here)

BL 1)
W- Please wait, Elder Noboru!
I never intended for my time machine to be used as a weapon...

---Page 11---
T)
[Think of the times when war has broken out.]
[Our nation is nothing more than a tiny country with some technology.]
[Considering the array of atom and hydrogen bombs that exist now, the citizens- No... humanity will be annihilated.]
SFX (left): Ta~maya~!
SFX (right): Ka~giya~!

*Translator's note, wherever it will fit* TN: “Tamaya” and “kagiya” are common cheers used in Japan during fireworks festivals. These cheers are the names of two famous fireworks manufacturers.

MR)
...Are you telling me to create some sort of Noah's Ark time machine for all the citizens?

ML)
Before we get to that, we should go to an appropriate future, learn the movements of the other nations,
and figure out what sort of strategy they used to win.

BR)
That's...!!

BC)
And then you'll return to the present world, and if a war starts, we'll do as you discovered.
Above all else, we will minimize the damage to our nation.

BL)
You want me to help you manipulate history?!

---Page 12---
TR)
We should determine the outcome quickly.
Only by doing so will the damage to the earth be lessened as well.

TC)
This is, so to speak, in line with your peaceful rules of use for your time machine, don't you think?

TL)
*Text above panel* Professor Urashima's Treasure
This is not merely for the sake of the nation.

M)
Destruction
or not...

---Page 13---
...Tarou.
Otohime... I feel like Nobel when he invented dynamite.
*Text on sign (first bit is cut off and that is reflected here)* Urashima's Night of Support

---Page 14---
T)
It's like it's not even ours anymore.
And we even said we were going to go on our honeymoon...

B)
*Text on sign (cut off again)* Prof.

---Page 15---
TR)
Now then, let's all ask Professor Urashima to go on a trip as a public experiment right here!

TC)
Professor!
For this next test, I've heard that you will limit it to an era.

TL)
SFX: Well...
It would be great if we are able. It's very much an incomplete product, so anything can happen...

MR)
(Hahaha) So modest.
...This isn't science fiction.

ML)
And to use it as a weapon is even furth-
SFX (in dark bubble): Squeeze
Everyone!!

BR)
I am happy to announce that the professor has promised to make use of the time machine for peace, for all of you!
*Banner. Fit the following text as is appropriate in your opinion.* Professor Urashima's Night of Support

BL)
What's more, The Council of Elders has decided that we will give him our full support!
SFX: Ugh...

---Page 16---
T)
*Text above panel* Professor Urashima's Treasure
So that everyone can see the results of your experiment...
Yes, that's it. Professor, please go to the last era you visited and bring something back!
Huh?

M 1)
With that, we'll be able to confirm the era.
It'll be valuable data, won't it, everyone!
(Th-that sort of...)
How should I know?

M 2)
Now, then!
Pray for the success of Professor Urashima's experiment!!

B)
Banzai~!
SFX (x3): Banzai~

---Page 17---
T)
SFX (on right): Ahaha...
SFX (on left): Paaa

M 1)
Tarou.
Hey, Tarou.

M 2)
(Kyahahaha. This dino-chan seems to like carrots.)
SFX (on left): Crunch crunch crunch

BC)
The experiment was a success, wasn't it?

BL)
I understand how you're feeling, but you never did say “no.”
SFX: Hop
He wasn't going to let me!

---Page 18---
TC)
Let's use this opportunity to take advantage of The Council of Elders.

TL)
*Text above panels) Professor Urashima's Treasure
The way they are, we have no idea when they'll start a war.

M)
Before that happens, we can quickly finish it
SFX: Paa~
and disappear somewhere. That's one option.

BR 1)
Good idea, huh?

BR 2)
Y-you would leave humanity to die?

BC)
I thought that's what you'd say...

BL)
SFX: Heh...
You couldn't do something like that...

---Page 19---
TR)
SFX: Kee kee kee
SFX: Pii~
SFX: Paa~

TL 1)
Oh,
didn't they tell us to bring something back?
Even in science fiction novels, it's basic knowledge that you should do nothing to influence that world. (How unlucky...)

TL 2)
...You're... still mad?
SFX: Hmph!

M)
Hey! Doesn't this kind of evoke the feeling of a past era?
(Ugh~)
Isn't it just dirty? There's something stuck to it.
One day, in the distant future, this might turn into some sort of ore.
...Right, Ta...

B)
Tarou?!
(I've had enough of your girlish fantasies...)

---Page 20---
TR)
*Replace the present English text to match your chosen font(s)* Bye-bye

TL)
Next time, we have to make sure we come here for our honeymoon.

M)
SFX: Pa!
SFX: Paa~?

---Page 21---
T)
SFX: Creak...

MR)
Hey...
Where is this...?

ML)
...Where is everyone...?!

---Page 22---
TL)
*Text above panel* Professor Urashima's Treasure
SFX (x3): Cheer

M)
Welcome back, Prime Minister Takeshita.
Welcome back, Prime Minister!

B)
Elder!
Elder Noboru!!

---Page 23---
TR)
What is it? Did something happen?
Sir.

TC)
It appears to be a young man and woman.

TL)
They say they've brought a rock.

M 1)
A rock...?! What does that mean?

M 2)
They're calling you “Elder Noboru.”

B)
Please move quickly. There's something strange about them.

---Page 24---
T)
*Text above panel* Professor Urashima's Treasure
Please tell Elder Noboru!
The time machine experiment was a success!

M 1)
What's this guy saying?!
You been reading too much sci-fi?!
?!

M 2 R)
The year is 1988, isn't it...?!
That's right.

M 2 C)
Then, what about World War III?

M 2 L)
SFX: Shove
Go home!! Like we'd let something so ludicrous happen!

B)
......

---Page 25---
T)
History... changed...?
...No way.

B)
...Why?
All we did was bring back one rock...
